*Note: This article addresses the VidFleet on-board cameras, which look like this.
For questions regarding camera type, please contact GPS Trackit.
The newest generation VidFleet cameras can function as both a camera AND a GPS unit, accomplishing both tasks without requiring additional hardware. Installation is greatly simplified, simply hook up the camera and get started tracking! GPS data and video records are available at your fingertips, through both the online software AND the mobile app.
No need for concern regarding paired units. Reduced start-up costs. Simplified installation. The same reliable tracking. Continued access to high-performance software tools, used to stay Miles Ahead regarding fleet-related business operations.
The camera simply needs to be installed in the vehicle per the directions. Once installation is complete, access the GPS Trackit Cloud software to find GPS data and captured video.
Camera-As-GPS units will display on the Maps tab if Offline.
*Please be aware that the single hardware Camera As GPS affects certain functionality in the following ways.
- Camera As GPS cannot utilize the Main Power Disconnect alert, the camera does not contain the required internal back-up battery needed to trigger it.
- By default, the cameras are installed without connecting to the vehicle's OBD II port, so no data is retrieved from the ECU. Speed and mileage are determined by the camera's GPS, and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are not accessible. To enabled ECU data capture, the cameras must be connected using an OPC-03 cable. For cable upgrade options, please contact GPS Trackit
Camera As GPS is not suitable for the following needs:
- ELD
- Inputs, including Temperature Tracking
- Starter Disable
- ECU DTC (Unless utilizing an OPC-03 cable)
- Car IQ Pay
For any of the above, dual (paired) VidFleet hardware (GPS device and Camera) will be required. Please Contact GPS Trackit to explore the best options.
