GPS Trackit sells various accessories for our fleet units. One of those is the Starter Disable Relay, used to interlock the engine and prevent ignition of the vehicle. Only units that are wired to the vehicle can utilize the Starter Disable. Units that plug into the OBD II port can’t have the relay connected. Please contact GPS Trackit with questions regarding the type of units purchased.
The Starter Disable Relays are controlled in both the Status and Manage tabs, in the Starter Status column. The function is the same in both places. This example will focus on the Status tab. Only accounts that have purchased the relays will see the column needed to enable and disable the interlock.
To view the current status of the interlock, hover the mouse over the key icon. Starter Enable means no issues with starting the vehicle. Normal operation of the vehicle can proceed. Starter Disable means the interlock is on. The vehicle cannot be turned on until the status has been changed back to Enable. Please note: Disable will not cause a running vehicle to shut off. It simply prevents a parked vehicle from starting their engine.
To change the status of the interlock, click the key icon. Then choose either Disable or Enable. The status can be changed at any time.
When commands are sent, the color of the key icon will change. Green means the current status is Enabled. Red means Disabled.
*Note: Please be advised that engaging the Starter Disable Relay will adversely affect the VidFleet Camera Live View.
