| Alert | A text or email triggered by specific vehicle behaviors (such as excessive speed or idling). |
| Asset Tracker | A GPS tracking device that is designed to track items like trailers or stationary equipment, rather than vehicles. Also known as trailer or equipment trackers. |
| Camera Event | Alerts only available for VidFleet Cameras. Multiple events available, depending on camera type purchased. |
| Cloud Platform | The web-based software from which the results of the GPS tracking are viewed. A slang/internal use term for Cloud is ‘PX’. |
| Contact | Recipient for Alerts and Scheduled Reports. Does not function as a login. |
| Crew | Non-Driving passenger assigned to a Unit, via Manage>Crews. |
| Driver | The employee operating the vehicle. |
| Driver Safety | Behavioral events detected by unit: Sudden Stop, Hard Stop, Hard Turn and Rapid Acceleration. |
| ECU | Electronic Control Unit within the vehicle electronics that controls certain functions. Plug-in units can read information from the ECU. |
| ELD | Electronic Logging Devices, mandated by the Department of Transportation on December 18, 2017. Used to electronically monitor compliance with DOT Hours of Service regulations for commercial drivers. |
| ELD Admin Portal | Web-based software from which the HOS records entered by Drivers can be viewed by their supervisors. 3rd party software. Vistracks until October 2022, then transitioned to Apollo. |
| ELD Driver App | Application installed on a Driver’s phone or tablet, used to input their HOS records. Available for iOS and Android. |
| Equipment | Feature within Manage, allows User to see which tools and equipment are assigned to which vehicles. |
| Fleet Unit | A tracking device used on vehicles (cars, trucks, buses, etc…) |
| Gadget | The graphs, tables and charts that appear in Dashboards. |
| Geofence | A virtual boundary placed around a specific property or geographic area, entry and exiting the boundary is noted in the unit readings. Used exclusively for asset tracking devices. Geofence must be paired to asset tracker to function properly. |
| GPS Trackit Cloud | The mobile app for the tracking platform. |
| Hard Brake | Vehicle slowed in excess of of 4 MPH/s for 1.5s - 3.0s |
| Hard Turn | Detected when the direction of travel based on the vehicle’s heading deviates in by 4 MPH/s for 1.5 - 3.0 seconds. |
| Hardwired | A tracking device that is attached to the vehicle or equipment via a wiring harness. Bypasses the OBII port and does not provide any ECU data |
| Hours of Service (HOS) | The federally mandated rules that determine how much time commercial drivers may work and when they must go off duty. |
| Idle | Engine Running, No movement for at least 3 minutes. |
| ID Reader/Key Fob | Accessory available for 2630 devices. RFID Reader attached to tracking unit, over which the Driver scans an assigned Key Fob in order to update their vehicle assignment. |
| Input | Use of additional wires on the wiring harness, used to monitor the use of vehicle mounted equipment, such as the lift on a tow truck. Not available for plug-and-play units. |
| Landmark | A virtual boundary placed around a specific property or geographic area, entry and exiting the boundary is noted in the unit readings. Used for fleet tracking devices. |
| Locations | Feature located within Manage, assigns units to a specific location. Unlike Tags, historical Location changes are retained and can be viewed via reports. Contains ability to set a 150 Air Radius around target location that will trigger an Alert if crossed. |
| Low Battery | The internal battery within the tracking unit is nearly out of power. Reconnect unit to power as soon as possible |
| Main Power Disconnect | The tracking device has been disconnected from an external power source and must utilize the internal back-up battery. Not available for all device types. |
| Main Power On | External power supply to the unit has been detected. |
| Media Event | Alerts only available for Xirgo Cameras. |
| OBD II Port | The port in all vehicles (smaller than a box truck) for connecting a diagnostic or tracking device, which became required on all vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1996 |
| Potential Incident | Detected when 9 G’s of force are exerted over 1.5s -3.0s |
| Plug And Play | A tracking device that attaches to the vehicle via the OBII or JBus port. Can provide EDU data from vehicle computer |
| Rapid Acceleration | Detected when a vehicle is accelerating in excess of a threshold of 5.6 MPH/s for 1.5s - 3.0s |
| Report | A list of readings for specific devices, drivers, date ranges and reading types |
| Role | A pre-set bundle of feature permissions that can be applied rapidly and in bulk to multiple users. |
| Routes | Up to 24 Stops bundled together, to send in bulk and as many times as needed. For example, a lawn maintenance company organizes which properties are serviced on which days of the week and sends those assignments to the chosen Driver in one batch. |
| Service | A Maintenance need such as an oil change or tire rotation, created and attached to the appropriate unit via the Maintenance tab. |
| Service Items | An optional ‘parts list’ created within the Maintenance tab, attached to the units to track parts use and maintenance costs. |
| Starter Disable | An accessory available for 2630 units. Interlocks and prevents the engine from starting. Will NOT shut down a running engine, will simply prevent further ignition. Interlock can be controlled by the User and enabled/disabled as needed. |
| Stop | A work assignment sent to a Driver via the Routes function and viewed by the Driver on the GPS Trackit Driver App. |
| Stopped | No Motion detected by Unit. |
| Stopped Reporting | Device is not reporting, will not report cause of outage. Contact Care with questions. |
| Tag | An organizational tool created in Accounts>Tags and used throughout the platform. Nesting function available. Can be applied to Units, Drivers, Landmarks, Geofences, FSM Forms and User permissions. |
| Telematics | A branch of information technology which deals with the long distance transmission of computerized information. |
| Tow | Motion has been detected, without an accompanying Ignition On event. Does not apply to Asset Tracking devices. Fleet Devices only. |
| Trail Line | A visual representation of the route a vehicle has taken, found on the Maps tab. |
| User | Someone who can log into the GPS platform and/or the ELD Admin Portal. |
| Waypoint | A Route element, used to direct target vehicles to use certain streets and/or pass the vicinity of designated locations. |
| Wiring Harness | The wiring used to connect wired-install devices to the vehicle or equipment. |
