Welcome to GPS Trackit! Please review this Quick Start guide to get familiar with the initial software setup.
- Initial Login
The first step to utilizing GPS Trackit is to login for the first time, then validate the credentials. GPS Trackit sets up the initial User, called the Primary User, and emails them the login credentials. The Primary User is whomever placed the initial order. Please be aware that the Primary User is required and to prevent accidental deletions they will not appear in the platform’s User list. The Primary User can be altered by Contacting GPS Trackit. Initial logins must always be made from the software platform, not the mobile app.
Once successfully logged in there are certain software set up tasks that should be addressed. The first of these would be to create Tags. Tags are a critical organizational tool, similar to the labels used in Gmail or folders used in Word and cannot be skipped. Until Tags are in the system the tracking units cannot be labeled and Users cannot be added, so at least one must be input.

Now that Tags are in the system, Users should be addressed next. Sharing User credentials is not encouraged. Each User should have their own credentials. Don’t worry, GPS Trackit doesn’t limit the number of users. Create as many as needed!

Each unit has a unique serial number printed on its label. This serial number must be used to keep track of which unit has been installed where. For ease of use, each tracking unit should be labeled (named) on the software platform to indicate which vehicle (or piece of equipment) it’s been installed on. The chosen label/name is completely customizable. Choose whatever makes sense!

And finally, let’s create Contacts. Contacts are used when setting up Alerts and Scheduling Reports, which are terrific ways to help automate the use of the tracking software. Both of these items require the selection of recipients, which is what the Contacts are.
- Alerts are in-the-moment notifications sent via email or SMS message. Need to know if someone is currently idling? Want to be notified if a vehicle speeds? Alerts are perfect for staying in the know, on the go!
- Scheduled Reports are used for more detailed information, for example having GPS Trackit send a weekly mileage summary or a list of stops a vehicle made. Instead of having to login and search for the information the software platform automatically creates and sends the file on a regular basis.
