What Are Locations?
Locations are used as a basic organizational tool to assign specific units to specific locations, such as a city or a branch office. Locations can also be set a 150 air mile radius around a specific location, allowing for Alerts to be triggered if vehicles exit the boundary encircled area.
Why Are Locations Valuable?
When Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) are in use, certain FMCSA regulations are waived within the 150 air mile radius. Monitoring this boundary contributes to effective FMCSA compliance.
How Do Locations Work?
Locations are created in the Manage Tab, under Locations.
Use the plus button in the upper left corner to create as many Locations as needed.
Each Location requires a unique Location Name. If the Location will only be used for organizational purposes then the address field will be optional.
If the Location will be used to monitor the 150 air mile radius, then the address field is required. The radius will be set in a 150 mile radius around the address entered. This radius is *not* configurable and is locked at 150 air miles.
When utilizing a Location to monitor the air mile radius, the ‘Enable’ toggle button must be engaged.
Make sure to Save.
Once Locations have been created, they must be assigned to the appropriate unit. To do so, click on Unit Settings.
Find the unit that needs a Location on the list and click on it. On the right, scroll down to the Location field to make the selection. Be sure to save the changes. The Location can be changed or removed at any time.
If Locations are in use to monitor the 150 air mile radius, engaging the ELD 150 Miles Rule Alert is recommended. Alerts can be accessed via the ‘bell’ icon in the upper right hand corner.
Location history can also be accessed within Reports. Please be aware that Air Mile Violations are *not* noted in the Report. Please utilize the Alerts.
