The GL500 Battery Powered Asset Tracking Device is the preferred choice for monitoring non-powered equipment. Installation is a simple process, via either adhesive strips, screws or a magnetic mount. This device is designed to ‘ping’ (report) once daily to provide the location of the monitored item. This ping rate can be increased by contact GPS Trackit, however this will have an adverse effect on the battery life.
If difficulties arise with with this device, please utilize the steps below to identify and resolve the problem:
GL500 devices typically stop reporting due to a poor positioning, depleted battery or a temporary signal loss. To address these issues, proceed as follows:
- Review the installation of the unit. Poor Positioning can impede the necessary signal connections. The mounting position must be chosen to ensure that both GPS and cellular signals can be received. Do not install the unit within a solid metal housing. Best practice is to choose a non-moveable, reinforced structure. Doors are not recommended, as this may expose the unit to road debris.
- To determine if the Asset Tracking Device has a Depleted Battery, check the battery percentage displayed on the software.
It's important to note that any battery percentage below 15% indicates a drained battery. To resolve this, the battery pack must be replaced. Replacement battery packs can be ordered directly from GPS Trackit.
- For troubleshooting a Partial Loss of Signal, press and hold the device button until the LEDs flash (approximately 5 seconds). Check the software to verify if an update was provided.
- If No Signal Report has been received within 5 minutes, place the device outside with an unobstructed sky view for 24 hours. Press the device button until the LEDs flash (approximately 5 seconds).
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, please Contact our Care Team for assistance.
