*Note: This information is regarding the Xirgo on-board cameras, which look like this:
Cameras that do not look like the picture above are VidFleet models. VidFleet content can be found here. For questions regarding camera type, please contact GPS Trackit.
If choosing to utilize separate GPS and Xirgo Camera units, two pieces of hardware will go into each vehicle and must be paired together: the GPS tracking unit and the camera. If utilizing the Camera As GPS option, pairing will NOT be required.
If using the Paired solution, Xirgo cameras will require two pieces of hardware: the GPS unit and the Camera. Each piece fulfills a separate action. These two units are then paired together on the software platform to represent one vehicle.
Without pairing them together two unit entries would then be seen on the software platform (both of which represent one vehicle) which might cause some confusion. Pairing eliminates this problem.
Pairing a GPS unit to a camera is performed within the Manage Tab, under Camera Management.
Each GPS unit and each Camera have serial numbers, visible on the devices. As the installations are conducted note should be kept indicating which GPS unit and which camera have gone into which vehicle using the serial numbers.
Once Camera Management has been opened, locate the camera on the list (using the serial number) and hover over it to produce a 3-dot button. The Record ID column shows the Camera serial numbers while ESN is the GPS unit.
Click the button to see the Edit option.
Click Edit will produce a dropdown on the right hand side. This is where the appropriate GPS unit should be selected.
Paired devices must be kept together. There’s no problem moving them from one vehicle to another if tracking needs to change. However the two equipment pieces must move together. Otherwise the software is trying to match the GPS tracking from one vehicle to the camera data from another.
In the event that the pairings are not maintained please revisit Camera Management and make the necessary adjustments.
