The next item is the Layer Control feature. These are the additional layers that can be added to the map for additional visual representation. Perhaps you need to compare the route taken by the vehicle to the route as assigned. Or would like to overlay upcoming road closures in order to make planning adjustments. Layer Control makes achieving these goals much easier.
Note: the first option would only be used if ALSO using the Routes tool as part of the GPS Trackit Driver App feature. After selecting Route, click ‘Next’ in the lower right corner.
Now select the desired Route and press the blue Add button. More than one route can be selected at a time allowing for visual comparison of the route layouts. For example, to check for overlaps. When done comparing Routes, press the back button.
Layer Control also offers the option to upload either a KML or KMZ file, providing the ability to create and apply customized overlays. For example, building an overlay to show planned road closures so that delivery routes can be adjusted accordingly.
Each individual User can upload their desired KML/KMZ files. These uploads will not be visible to any other users. To upload, select Using a KMZ/KML file, then press ‘Next’.
Once the file has been uploaded the overlay can be toggled on and off as needed.
Up to 10 layers can be visible at once. This is a Google limit which cannot be overridden. Layers can be deleted if no longer needed.
