What Are Video Downloads?
Downloads are the action of storing camera imagery and video outside of the GPS Trackit cloud software platform.
Why Are Downloads Important?
Downloading video footage for long-term storage is a critical component of effective dashcam use. Dashcam footage may provide evidence in the event of accidents or insurance claims, help with dispute resolution, driver behavior review and more. GPS Trackit holds video clips for 90 days after generation, which means downloading should be carried for any clip that may need require long-term retention.
How Do Downloads Work?
VidFleet camera video footage can be downloaded via the VidFleet by GPS Trackit app. This app is available for both Android and iOS as a free download in their respective Stores.
iOS App Download
After the app has been downloaded and installed, perform the following steps:
- Open the VidFleet By GPS Trackit App
- Start the vehicle engine
- Within the app, go to the Camera Tab and select the plus (+) icon for Add Camera
- Locate the SSID and Password on the VidFleet One Camera
- Confirm that the camera’s LED light is on, by tapping on the Circle for ‘Light Is On’. Then click Continue.
- The app will now attempt to connect to the VidFleet camera’s WiFii directly.
- Ignore the Instructions to ‘WiFi Direct’ and instead select ‘Connect to normal WiFi’.
- Select the WiFi network for the camera. The WiFi network will be identified by the SSID, located on the camera’s label.
- Enter the WiFi password, located on the back of both the VidFleet One and VidFleet AI+ cameras.
- Once connected, return to the VidFleet app using either the back button or the app switcher (depending on the device being used)
- Select the Camera tab. The available footage should now be visible along the bottom.
- Select the desired clip from the carousel to either Save to Album or Export to Photo Library.
- Next, choose either the Combined OR individual Road, Cabin or Driver (only available for VidFleet AI+ cameras) streams to export.
- Select Export to Photo Library to begin the export process. *Note: Clip duration and file size will be displayed below the video.
- The VidFleet app will now start the export process. Progress is indicated by the blue line around the frame along with the % complete below.
*Note: VidFleet Cameras use a 128 GB SD card for memory. When this card is full, it is automatically overwritten with new video. Once a video has been overwritten it cannot be retrieved.
