The Vehicle Equipment feature tracks of which tools and equipment are assigned to which vehicle. This feature is found in Manage, under the Equipment tab.
The first step to using Vehicle Equipment is the plus button in the left hand corner. This is where to input the various pieces of equipment assigned to the vehicles. This list doesn’t come pre-loaded, as it can vary from company to company.
Click the plus button to begin, then use the Equipment name field to enter the item. Then under Assign Units choose the vehicles that have this equipment on board. Simply use the checkboxes to indicate the choices. If not ready to assign the equipment to vehicles that’s fine. Equipment can be entered without having to immediately be assigned to units. Unlike Drivers or Crew Members, Equipment *can* be assigned to more than one unit at a time.
Changes to the equipment list are easy. Items can be renamed, reassigned and deleted altogether. To do all three, find the item on the list and hover the mouse over it. A 3-dot button will appear to the right. For assignment or name changes select Edit. Use Delete to remove the equipment from the list. For example, the company will no longer use hammers.
The use of Equipment pays off on the Maps tab. The Find Nearest feature allows for search by the onboard Equipment, not just by Vehicle. For example, let’s say that there’s a need to determine where the closest Commercial Grade Pressure Washer is located in relation to a particular address. The software will see which vehicles have that particular equipment assigned, and from there which vehicle is the closest to the location.
Click on Find Nearest and select Equipment. A new field will appear, called ‘select equipment’. Use the field to choose the exact tool or equipment that needs to be located. After selecting the equipment, choose the type of location. The location could be an address, the location of a specific vehicle, a pre-existing Landmark or a click on the map. Once the fields have been filled in click on the Find button to see the results.
