Speed Override is designed to override the posted speed limit for a designated stretch of road. The feature should be utilized when the posted speed limit listed is incorrect due to recent changes or other factors, such as road construction in the areas with temporary limits in place. As a note: this does NOT permit raising the speed limit past where it has been legally set (ie, 55 mph can’t be turned into 60 mph).
Speed Override is located on the Maps tab, under the Map Utilities on the right-hand side.
To input the Override, click the black plus (+) button.
After clicking on Speed Override use the Speed Override Label field as each entry will need to be named/labeled for organization purposes.
In the Start field, enter an address close to the desired Override area. This address doesn’t need to be exact but it should bring the Map into the appropriate area. If an address isn’t available then zoom in tight and manually drag the map into the desired position. The zoom should ideally be as tight as possible.
Drag and Zoom the Map to locate the exact spot where the Override should begin, then click on that spot to indicate where the Override begins. A Green pin will appear on this spot and (if not already provided) an address will appear in the Start field.
Repeat this process to place the End point. Please be careful to ensure that the End point is accurately placed relative to the Start point and the direction of traffic. This is a particular concern when creating a Speed Override on highways.
Once the Start and End points have been placed a line will appear between them to illustrate the overridden section. Please be aware that the distance between the Start and End points cannot exceed 50 miles.
The color of the connecting line reflects the current speed limit of the selected section. The color key is located on the left side of the map.
The Start and End points can be moved to adjust the override area. Just click, drag and drop.
Once the override section has been accurately placed, use the Correct Speed Limit field to indicate what the override limit should be.
A Notes field is provided if any additional information about the Override needs to be recorded.
Once satisfied that the Override is ready, press ‘Save’.
Existing Speed Overrides are listed to the right hand side of the platform and are viewed by clicking ‘Speed Override.’
Each Override is listed on a card. Clicking the name of the Override will display the highlighted selected section of road on the map.
To edit or remove a Speed Override, hover over the upper right corner of the card. A 3-dot button will appear. Click the button to see the edit and delete options.
